The ASICS VIC NBD is a high-performance skate sneaker designed with a stability-focused sole, inspired by the GEL-EXTREME basketball shoe released in 1989. Engineered to support intense, multi-directional movements, it features a reimagined outsole structure for grip and balance on the board or pavement.
The midsole is equipped with FF BLAST™ cushioning, a technology also used in ASICS running shoes, offering responsive shock absorption and a soft landing feel. The upper combines suede on the outer side for enhanced durability and breathable mesh on the inner side for airflow and temperature control. A thick padded tongue adds comfort and protection during technical movements.
The insole is constructed with dual-density zones and perforations, based on motion analysis, to promote inner-foot stability and precise control.

Inspired to create a chair where the back and arms are moulded from a single piece of plywood, Hecht and Colin describe employing a process similar to that a tailor might use to cut a pattern in fabric. This approach resulted in the beautiful structure wherein the moulded back and arms component is supported by a simple A-frame wood dowel construction. One of the benefits of this design is an increase in comfort due to natural movement in the plywood back.
